Shannen completed her BSc. Dietetics Degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2017 and went on to complete her community service at St Mary’s KwaMagwaza Hospital the year after.
Being the only Dietitian at her hospital, Shannen was solely responsible for the nutritional management of all patients including neonatal & infant feeding as well as adult & pediatric malnutrition. It is here that Shannen saw the importance of nutrition education in giving every individual the best possible chance at a healthier life.
Thereafter, Shannen worked as a clinical Dietitian where she focused on the nutritional counselling of patients diagnosed with diseases of lifestyle such as Diabetes, Hypercholesterolemia & Hypertension.
Most recently, Shannen explored the corporate side of Dietetics as a Medical Representative. This is where she developed an interest in sales & product development. Ultimately, being able to combine these passions, she grabbed the opportunity to join the FUTURELIFE team in 2022.
Shannen also maintains a keen interest in mental health and the role that nutrition has to play. She believes that as Dietitians, we are responsible for equipping individuals with the tools necessary to make healthier, informed decisions. It is her hope that by playing her part here at FUTURELIFE®, she will be able to do just that.
