FUTURELIFE® in partnership with the Dis-Chem Foundation and HOPE worldwide SA have committed to to donating and distributing 100 000 nutritious meals to children affected by the recent riots and unrest across Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng. According to Mark Bunn, Managing Director at FUTURELIFE®, the partners already provide 100 000 nutritious meals to children in need every month, however the widespread damage – both physically and emotionally – from the past few weeks has had massive ramifications.

“South Africa was already beset by poverty before the pandemic. Now, after over a year of Covid-19 and a week of relentless  riots, thousands of jobs have been lost and so many, especially our children, have been left without food.”

Bunn believes that the long-term nutritional needs of children is where they are best positioned to assist. “The longer-term impact of the recent riots has been compounded by an already-growing food crisis. Our immediate goal is to secure sustained nutrition for these little tummies.”

And, this is where Bunn says that ordinary South Africans can get involved. FUTURELIFE®, in partnership with the Dis-chem Foundation & HOPE worldwide SA, is calling for donations to further sustain their role in ensuring the hope of our future generations through good nutrition. “FUTURELIFE® and Dis-chem have already committed to donate an additional 100 000 nutritious FUTURELIFE® meals which will be distributed by HOPE worldwide SA to children in need. But, in order to reach more children, for longer, we need South Africa’s help!” Bunn explains.

He says that a mere R50 can keep a little tummy full for one whole month! Plus, FUTURELIFE® will match every, single donation made to this drive, converting donations to FUTURELIFE® meals. “We might be a small KZN-based company, but we have a big vision and together I believe that we can help rebuild our future by feeding one child at a time,” Bunn concludes.
